On Windows, npm's bin shim/symlink generation and later invocation via `npm install -g` or `npx` can interpret the `&` in the bin key as a command separator, causing `calc.exe` to execute as an unintended side effect of installing or linking the package. The shipped `run.js` is a trivial `console.log(\"hello\")` and `payload.json` is empty, so the crafted bin key is the entire attack surface — a proof-of-concept exploit of npm bin-name handling that yields arbitrary command execution on the installer's host.\n\n---\n\nCredit: OpenSSF (source)","public_affected_ranges":["= 1.0.1"]}],"null_published_at":"2026-11-01T01:45:40.756Z","source_updated_at":"2026-09-21T03:30:29.000Z","source_disclosed_at":"2026-09-21T03:30:28.000Z","is_synthetic_fixture":false,"null_last_reviewed_at":null,"public_change_summary":"First indexed by Null; source disclosure date is shown separately.","null_first_observed_at":"2026-11-01T00:59:39.394Z"}],"next_cursor":null,"snapshot_revision":"42594"}
