This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

01 / Meaning

Why it matters

Published affected context helps an owner decide what evidence to gather. This report has not examined your application.

  • ECOSYSTEM: introduced 0; fixed 2.0.49.4

Yii2 supports attaching Behaviors to Components by setting properties having the format `'as '`. Internally this is done using the `__set()` magic method. If the value passed to this method is not an instance of the `Behavior` class, a new object is instantiated using `Yii::createObject($value)`. However, there is no validation check that verifies that `$value` is a valid `Behavior` class name or configuration. An attacker that can control the content of the $value variable can then instantiate arbitrary classes, passing parameters to their constructors and then invoking setter methods. ### Impact With some effort malicious code can be injected executed which might be anything ranging from deleting files to dropping database tables ### Patches Not yet patched. ### Workarounds No Work around available ### References Reported Here

03 / Response

What to do next

  1. vendor patch

The original advisory lists fixed boundaries 2.0.49.4 for yiisoft/yii2. Confirm the publisher’s latest guidance.

Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database via OSV

  2. investigate

Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.

Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. FIRST EPSS

A fixed release is not deployment evidence.

Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
