## Summary A stored XSS vulnerability exists in the User Permissions page. The User Group name is rendered without proper HTML escaping in the permissions section, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript when another user views or edits a user's permissions. > [!NOTE] > This is a separate vulnerability from the previously reported "Stored XSS via User Group Name in User Settings Page" and "Multiple Stored XSS in User Group Edit Page". This affects a different sink: the individual user's permissions page. ## Proof of Concept ### Required Permissions - Admin access - `allowAdminChanges` is enabled in production, which is against our security recommendations. ### Steps to Reproduce 1. 03 / Response

What to do next

  1. vendor patch

The original advisory lists fixed boundaries 5.8.22 for craftcms/cms. Confirm the publisher’s latest guidance.

Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database via OSV

  2. investigate

Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.

Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. FIRST EPSS

A fixed release is not deployment evidence.

Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
