OSV carries this publisher advisory for kimai/kimai. This is an aggregated source copy; consult the original publisher and compare update dates.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

### Summary The SAML authentication success handler in Kimai returns the `RelayState` POST parameter as a redirect destination without validating the host or scheme. After a user successfully authenticates via SAML, they are redirected to an attacker-controlled URL if the IdP includes a malicious `RelayState` value. This enables phishing attacks that steal credentials or session tokens post-SSO. *Requires SAML to be enabled (non-default configuration).* ### Details Vulnerable file: `src/Saml/Security/SamlAuthenticationSuccessHandler.php` ```php // Line 27-33 $relayState = $request->request->get('RelayState', $request->query->get('RelayState')); if (\is_scalar($relayState)) { $relayState = (string) $relayState; if ($relayState !== $this->httpUtils->generateUri($request, (string) $this->options['login_path'])) { return $relayState; // No host/scheme validation — any URL accepted } } ``` The only check is that `RelayState` does not equal the configured `login_path`. Any external URL (e.g., `https://attacker.com`) passes this check and is returned as the redirect destination. The existing unit test `SamlAuthenticationSuccessHandlerTest::testRelayState()` con

What to do next
- vendor patch
The original advisory lists fixed boundaries 2.53.0 for kimai/kimai. Confirm the publisher’s latest guidance.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database via OSV
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. FIRST EPSS
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
