AVideo has Plaintext Video Password Storage
OSV carries this publisher advisory for wwbn/avideo. This is an aggregated source copy; consult the original publisher and compare update dates.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

### Summary AVideo allows content owners to password-protect individual videos. The video password is stored in the database in **plaintext** — no hashing, salting, or encryption is applied. If an attacker gains read access to the database (via SQL injection, a database backup, or misconfigured access controls), they obtain all video passwords in cleartext. ### Details **File:** `objects/video.php` **Vulnerable setter:** ```php public function setVideo_password($video_password) { AVideoPlugin::onVideoSetVideo_password($this->id, $this->video_password, $video_password); $this->video_password = trim($video_password); } ``` **Vulnerable getter:** ```php public function getVideo_password() { if (empty($this->video_password)) { return ''; } return trim($this->video_password); } ``` The value assigned to `$this->video_password` is only `trim()`-ed before being persisted to the database column `video_password` in the `videos` table. There is no call to any hashing function (e.g., `password_hash()`, `sha256`, or similar). When a visitor enters a password to access a protected video, the comparison is done directly against the stored plaintext: ```php // C

What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. FIRST EPSS
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
04 / Limits
What this report cannot establish
- Customer inventory, deployment, reachability and exploitation have not been inspected.
- NVD lastModified does not establish freshness of every associated CPE record.
05 / Provenance
Sources you can inspect
Each assertion retains its source. Mirrored records may repeat one underlying publisher; additional links are not independent corroboration.
