The script collects the installer's hostname (`os.hostname()`), OS username (`os.userInfo().username`), current working directory (`process.cwd()`), configured npm registry (`npm_config_registry`), and a set of CI repository-slug environment variables (GITHUB_REPOSITORY, CI_PROJECT_PATH, BUILD_REPOSITORY_NAME, BITBUCKET_REPO_FULL_NAME, TRAVIS_REPO_SLUG, DRONE_REPO, BUILDKITE_PIPELINE_SLUG, CIRCLE_PROJECT_REPONAME, JOB_NAME), then sends them via HTTP GET to the hardcoded bare-IP endpoint `http://75.119.137.232:31337/depconfuse` as query parameters. The placeholder version `9999.0.0` combined with a generic scoped-sounding name is the canonical dependency-confusion reconnaissance shape: the package is published to public npm to intercept internal-package name resolution and beacon back which private-namespace builds are vulnerable to substitution. ## Source: ossf-package-analysis (2094a7f35be1c723c65b36c32884f2f0e99840ef0bc090a1fbcb1f5568b93ef2) The OpenSSF Package Analysis

03 / Response
What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
04 / Limits
What this report cannot establish
- Customer inventory, deployment, reachability and exploitation have not been inspected.
05 / Provenance
Sources you can inspect
Each assertion retains its source. Mirrored records may repeat one underlying publisher; additional links are not independent corroboration.
