JHipster: SQL Injection in the Parameter of JHipster-Generated Reactive (WebFlux + R2DBC) Applicationssort
GitHub lists this reviewed advisory for generator-jhipster. Published version ranges and source prerequisites are shown below; this is not an inspection of a visitor’s application.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

# SQL Injection in the `sort` Parameter of JHipster-Generated Reactive (WebFlux + R2DBC) Applications - **Product**: jhipster/generator-jhipster (npm package `generator-jhipster`) - **Affected versions**: v7.0.0 through v9.2.0 - **Component**: generated reactive-application code, template `EntityManager_reactive.java.ejs` - **Report date**: 2026-08-29 --- ## 1. Summary Every reactive (Spring WebFlux + Spring Data R2DBC + SQL) application generated by `generator-jhipster` contains an SQL injection in the paginated entity list endpoints (`GET /api/?sort=...`). The `sort` request parameter is taken verbatim from the user and concatenated into the SQL `ORDER BY` clause without quoting or validation. Because the generated query has no bound parameters, the R2DBC drivers execute it via the **simple query protocol**, so `;`-separated extra statements are run against the database. A single authenticated low-privileged user (including an account obtained through the default self-registration flow) can therefore **execute arbitrary SQL**: read any table (including `jhi_user` password hashes), modify or delete data, and drop tables (full C/I/A impact). What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. NIST National Vulnerability Database
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
04 / Limits
What this report cannot establish
- Customer inventory, deployment, reachability and exploitation have not been inspected.
- NVD lastModified does not establish freshness of every associated CPE record.
05 / Provenance
Sources you can inspect
Each assertion retains its source. Mirrored records may repeat one underlying publisher; additional links are not independent corroboration.
