Copernik XML Factory (stock JDK provider) has Improper restriction of XInclude resource resolution
GitHub lists this reviewed advisory for eu.copernik:copernik-xml-factory. Published version ranges and source prerequisites are shown below; this is not an inspection of a visitor’s application.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

Copernik XML Factory through `0.1.1`, when running on its stock JDK provider, does not block XInclude resource resolution after an application enables XInclude on a factory returned by `XmlFactories.newDocumentBuilderFactory()` or `XmlFactories.newSAXParserFactory()`, or on an `XMLReader` passed through `XmlFactories.harden()`. The library's documented guarantee that XInclude resolution stays disabled therefore does not hold on that provider. An application that parses untrusted XML in this configuration can be made to resolve `xi:include` references, allowing an attacker to read local files (information disclosure) or, through `http` hrefs, reach internal network endpoints (SSRF). All of the following conditions must hold for an application to be affected: - it obtains a factory from `XmlFactories.newDocumentBuilderFactory()` or `XmlFactories.newSAXParserFactory()`, or hardens an externally obtained `XMLReader` with `XmlFactories.harden()`; - the stock JDK provider is in effect, that is, Apache Xerces is not on the classpath; - XInclude is enabled, by calling `setXIncludeAware(true)` or the equivalent reader feature; - it parses XML from an untrusted source. The Xerces provider

What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. NIST National Vulnerability Database
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
04 / Limits
What this report cannot establish
- Customer inventory, deployment, reachability and exploitation have not been inspected.
- NVD lastModified does not establish freshness of every associated CPE record.

Sources you can inspect
Each assertion retains its source. Mirrored records may repeat one underlying publisher; additional links are not independent corroboration.
