Nuxt Ollama: Public Runtime Config Exposes Ollama API Key to Browser Clients
GitHub lists this reviewed advisory for nuxt-ollama. Published version ranges and source prerequisites are shown below; this is not an inspection of a visitor’s application.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.

## Public Runtime Config Exposes Ollama API Key to Browser Clients ### Summary `nuxt-ollama@1.2.26` unconditionally merges all module options — including `api_key` — into Nuxt's **public** runtime config (`runtimeConfig.public.ollama`). Nuxt serializes `runtimeConfig.public` into the SSR HTML response inside a `` payload block (`window.__NUXT__`), making the API key visible in plaintext to any unauthenticated HTTP client that fetches the page. An attacker with no credentials can steal the Ollama cloud API key with a single HTTP GET request, then use it to make arbitrary requests to the Ollama API at the operator's expense. ### Details The vulnerability is a design flaw in `src/module.ts`. During Nuxt module setup, the entire `_options` object — which contains `api_key` when configured for cloud Ollama as documented in `README.md:71-80` — is merged into the **public** runtime config namespace: ```ts // src/module.ts:35-36 const currentConfig = (runtimeConfig.public.ollama ?? {}) as OllamaOptions runtimeConfig.public.ollama = defu(currentConfig, _options) ``` Nuxt's SSR pipeline serializes `runtimeConfig.public` and embeds it in every server-rendered HTML page for clien

What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.
