Vibe-Trading LLM-callable tools permit command execution, code injection, and SSRF
GitHub lists this reviewed advisory for vibe-trading-ai. Published version ranges and source prerequisites are shown below; this is not an inspection of a visitor’s application.
This report has not inspected your inventory, configuration, deployed build, reachability or evidence. A catalog listing and a severity score do not establish exposure or compromise.
01 / Meaning

### Summary: 5 findings — `BashTool` shell-injection sink (F6, the canonical RCE primitive), `BackgroundRunTool` async shell-injection sink (F7), backtest `exec_module()` runs top-level statements before the `SignalEngine` class check (F8 — independent RCE path that does not match BashTool signatures), `read_url` outbound HTTP forwarding without schema/host validation (F-B4 SSRF), and Jinja2 codegen with autoescape disabled for `.py.j2` templates (F-B5, defense-in-depth code-injection sink). --- ### Shared baseline (applies to all 5 findings) All five tools are members of the **auto-discovered tool registry** the LLM agent gets at startup; the LLM is free to call any of them based on the user prompt. The tool registration is unconditional in default config — no operator opt-in flag gates them. Combined with GHSA-1 / F1 (unauthenticated POST /sessions/{id}/messages), every primitive in this advisory is reachable from any anonymous TCP client to port 8899. The container has no `USER` directive, so successful execution runs as `uid=0(root)`. See GHSA-1 for the shared reproducer environment block — the same `docker compose up -d` setup applies here. The five primitives also share

What to do next
- investigate
Identify the exact component and deployed version, examine the linked publisher’s conditions, and retain evidence of any mitigation.
Confirm current vendor support, compatibility and deployment evidence. This report has not tested a fix in your system. GitHub Advisory Database
A fixed release is not deployment evidence.
Check current vendor support and compatibility. After making a change, verify the deployed build and relevant runtime conditions. Keep the evidence, owner and time. An updated lockfile alone does not prove what is running.

- Customer inventory, deployment, reachability and exploitation have not been inspected.
05 / Provenance
Sources you can inspect
Each assertion retains its source. Mirrored records may repeat one underlying publisher; additional links are not independent corroboration.
